These terms apply when you message Dokotela or use this website. Dokotela is operated by Dr Aphiwe Meyiwa (Pty) Ltd. By continuing a consultation after giving consent, you agree to them.
What Dokotela is
Dokotela is an online medical practice. You consult with our doctors by chat, and medical advice comes from the doctor treating you.
Not for emergencies
A chat consultation isn't suitable for emergencies, and replies aren't instant. For chest pain, trouble breathing, heavy bleeding, a seizure or someone who has collapsed, go to your nearest emergency unit or call an ambulance on 10177, or 112 from a mobile phone.
Limits of a chat consultation
A doctor can't examine you by chat. If the doctor decides you need to be seen in person, please follow that advice. Tell the doctor everything relevant, and make sure the details you give about who the consultation is for are correct.
Using the service
- Only consult for yourself, or for someone you're entitled to consult on behalf of, such as your child.
- Don't send content that is abusive, unlawful, or unrelated to a medical query.
- Doctors are available while they're on duty. We can't guarantee a reply within a particular time.
Fees
We'll tell you about any consultation fee before you pay.
Your information
How your information is handled is set out in our privacy policy.
Our responsibility
We work to keep the service available and secure, but we can't guarantee it will always be uninterrupted, for example when a mobile network is down. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act or other South African law.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of South Africa.
